Lice Facts
∙ Head lice is spread by head to head contact (including the ever popular selfie), or putting your head where a person with head lice has put theirs, such as a couch, car seat, hair ties, hats, helmets, backpacks, pillows, etc.
∙ Lice do not discriminate. Anyone can get head lice. Lice do not care if you’re clean or dirty, rich or poor, or what age or ethnicity you are. They like everyone just the same.
∙ Lice do not jump or fly.
∙ Not everyone itches! Only 50% of people with head lice itch. It’s an allergic reaction to the lice’s saliva. Itching can last up to two weeks after a person with head lice is lice free.
∙ Head lice like to hang out on the warmest and darkest parts of the head, called "hot spots”. This includes, behind the ears, part lines and the nape of the neck. When checking for lice always check these spots first.
∙ Lice leave a scent on an infested person’s head for 90 days after being treated and lice free. It’s recommended to use a preventative such as Super Lice Saver Stay Away Mint Spray to keep re-infestations from happening.
